STEP TWO
You will need to complete the following items online before you attend the interview:
- Write a personal letter to your host family
- Upload recent photographs of yourself and the children you have cared for
- Submit at least three references
- Upload copies of your most recent school certificates or diplomas
- Upload a copy of your full driving license
- Upload an application for a criminal record check certificate
- Upload a copy of your passport
- Upload your completed medical form
Add a video clip to your Au Pair in America application – a great way to show host families something extra special about yourself and to improve your application.
Start by thinking about possible topics and what you might like to talk about – your video clip will only be 1-2 minutes long. Here are some possible topic choices:
- your hobbies and interests
- your childcare experience
- why you want to be an Au Pair in America
- your country/culture/customs
- your family
Think about where you will record your video – in your home, in your garden, in the local park, at your school or workplace and remember we want to hear and see you. Record your video clip in English and speak clearly.

STEP THREE
Confirming your placement:
Your application has been accepted and once you have been matched with a host family, you will receive a Placement Pack which includes your host family details, Visa application forms and an invoice for your Program fees. If you have any questions about your placement or to confirm your match with your host family, please contact your local interviewer.
STEP FOUR
Applying for your visa:
We will arrange your J-1 visa papers, and will assist you in booking an interview at the American Embassy.
STEP FIVE
Booking your flight:
We will organise your flight.
All you need to do is pack your bags and turn up at the airport!
