Extending Your Stay

Twelve months go by so quickly and many Au Pairs are not quite ready to return home after their first year. Great news – now you have the option to extend your year for an additional 6, 9 or 12 months!

You will have the opportunity to extend your stay in the US upon successful completion of the first 12 months. You may apply to continue your stay with your current host family or be considered for placement with another host family for an additional 6, 9 or 12 month term. Before being offered the opportunity to extend, you must meet all the program guidelines, including the educational requirements.

Why Stay Longer?

Continue to earn weekly pocket money as follows:

Au Pair in America program:
Au Pair Extraordinaire program:

Have the opportunity to continue your studies
You will be expected to continue the educational component of the program. For Au Pairs and Extraordinaire Au Pairs, your host family will pay up to US$250 for a 6 month extension and US$500 for a longer extension.

Enjoy another year in the US

Au Pairs who are approved for a program extension will receive the Completion Bonus at the end of their first 12 month term. You will continue to receive Basic Medical cover at no extra cost during your extended stay.

EduCare in America

Educare Companions are also eligible to extend their stay.

The weekly pocket money that EduCare Companions will receive is US$146,81. EduCare Companions will receive an additional US$500 toward courses for the 6 month extension and US$1000 for a longer extension.
