Places to See

Places to see ... things to do ...

With over 3.7 million square miles the United States is the third biggest land mass. There is a huge amount to do and see. Below are a few places that you may want to visit on your travels.

East Coast

The East Coast has plenty on offer from the big cities of New York City, Washington D.C., Orlando, Boston to Philadelphia. Each city has something special about it from the Freedom Trail in Boston to all Disney has to offer in Orlando to the beaches in Miami. The East coast is also home to the Appalachian Trail, the longest hiking trail in the world at 2,174 miles extending from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine.

The South

The South has plenty to offer from the big cities of Atlanta, New Orleans to Houston, The South is very distinctive and has a unique cultural heritage that has been developed in its own literature, music and cuisines. If you are in Texas August/September, catching a college football game (approx US$10) is a great day out.

The Midwest

Prairies, tornados, rolling hills and farmland are what you may be thinking. The Midwest stretches from the Great Lakes of Kansas, the big cities include Detroit, Chicago, St Louis, Kansas City. The Midwest has plenty on offer apart from the big cities, the rolling plains are a beautiful sight and it is the core of the United States, big, clear skies that stretch as long as the eye can see and open fields.

The Southwest

Home of the Navajo tribe, the largest reservation in North America has to be seen to be believed, along with The Grand Canyon the Southwest has plenty to offer. Colorado and Utah have a lot of outdoor activities on offer from the Rocky Mountains to the countless number of hiking trails and white water rafting on offer along the Colorado and Green Rivers.

West Coast

From the lights of Las Vegas to the Redwood Forest of Oregon, the West Coast is full of adventure, whether you want to see the glitz of Hollywood in Los Angeles to relaxing on the numerous beaches stretched across the coastline up along California, Oregon and Washington. The Sierra Nevada and Yosemite National Park are places of natural beauty with plenty of hiking trails/wildlife watching which could give you your chance to see a Black Bear in its natural habitat.
