To enjoy a successful stay with your host family, an Au Pair must be prepared to contribute and try to be open and communicate with the family. Au Pairs should be prepared to spend time with the family, even when ‘off duty'. If the family invites you to join them for an outing on your day off, do not regard the time spent with them as ‘work', but enjoy their company and try to become part of the family. The host family provides you with your own private room, all meals and weekly pocket money.
